“True discipline is really just self-remembering; no forcing or fighting is necessary.”
~ Charles Eisenstein
At the age of one, I was diagnosed with an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts, and tree nuts except for coconuts. My severe allergy is not the only reason why I am a holistic nutritionist there are other experiences which have brought me to this place of caring so deeply about helping people heal. Living with this allergy gave me a natural interest in foods since I learned to read all ingredient labels and to ask anyone who prepared food outside my home what the ingredients were. I never took anything for granted! Looking back I think that the things which were the most fun for me to read were packaged food labels. It became an interest that I would pick up foods and be curious about its ingredients. I quickly made a connection between artificial ingredients and how poorly I felt after I ate them while visiting family or friends. I grew up in a very health conscious family; my mom shared with me her reasons for purchasing organic, non-GMO, whole foods. I was blessed to grow up with parents who cared about organic, sustainably-grown whole foods. My interest in helping inspire people to heal and feel their very best comes from witnessing my peers in college feel exhausted and unwell (not due to alcohol because the school prohibited alcohol use on campus) instead the unhealthy atmosphere came from my peers poor diet. The dining hall served pizza, pancakes, waffles, and ice cream everyday. Understandably, if those are the regular food options since eggs, chicken, and meat were not always available same goes for plant-based whole foods, I realized I was witnessing my peers depression, anxiety, and lack of sociability increase not from the stresses of homework directly but from the foods they were putting into their bodies. What we eat directly affects how we feel. I pray that I may help you to feel your very best emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually and that you can regain and maintain your connection with your body, because your best health is always worth the effort.
